Do you have a local project that improves local community participation and contributes to vibrant and viable communities? If so, your project may be eligible to apply for funding through the Stronger Communities Programme.
The Stronger Communities Programme supports the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits in communities across Australia by funding projects in each of the 150 federal electorates. The program provides grants for community projects to strengthen and benefit local communities and is part of the Government’s 2026-27 Budget initiatives.
Expressions of interest for Round 10 of the programme will close on 31st October 2026.
A maximum of 20 projects will be funded in each federal electorate.
Round 10 of the program aims to support projects that provide social benefits for local communities. For this round, grant funding will provide up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs except for local governing bodies where grant funding will provide up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs. Local governing bodies must provide matched funding contributions towards their eligible project.
Funding Available
- Grants between $2,500 and $20,000
- Projects with a total value of up to $50,000
- Funding available for up to 20 projects across Aston
- Successful projects must be completed by 31 March 2028
Who Can Apply?
Expressions of Interest are invited from eligible:
- Not-for-profit organisations
- Community groups
- Sporting clubs
- Charities
- Volunteer organisations
- Other eligible entities with an ABN
Some unincorporated organisations may be eligible to participate through a sponsoring organisation.
Eligible Projects
Projects must align with the program guidelines, be located within the electorate of Aston and demonstrate a clear benefit to the local community.
Examples of eligible projects include:
- Upgrades to community halls and clubhouses
- Improvements to sporting and recreation facilities
- Accessibility and inclusion initiatives
- Community equipment purchases
- Environmental and sustainability projects
- Shade structures and climate resilience measures
- Women's and family facilities
- First Nations cultural projects
- Technology and communications upgrades
- Defibrillators and community health equipment
Submit an Expression of Interest
Organisations seeking consideration for funding through Stronger Communities Programme Round 10 are required to complete the Expression of Interest form by 31 October, 2026.
Submitted Expressions of Interest will be assessed by a Community Consultation Committee before funding recommendations are provided to the Department.
Nominated organisations will have until 19 January 2027 to complete their application but will be invited to apply as soon as the Department has confirmed their eligibility and approved their project.
